Sky’s Now TV service is great for anyone who doesn’t want a contract but does want to watch some of the best sport, shows and films on offer. But can you watch it abroad? And how can you do it?
You might be in the middle of a great TV show like Game of Thrones or the upcoming HBO drama collaboration The Third Day, or don’t want to miss an important football match while you’re away on holiday or work. Luckily you don’t need to with Now TV’s roaming rules. You might also read about how to watch Now TV offline, so that you can download shows in advance and just take them with you.
Can I watch Now TV outside the UK?
Although Now TV is a UK service, Sky allows customers to watch abroad within the EU without any additional fees or complications. You just need to make sure you have the following:
- A valid UK payment card registered to your account
- Have watched on your account in the UK in the last 30 days
You also need to be in an approved EU country and can’t watch for longer than 30 days. Note that you’ll also need to by Now TV passes while you’re in the UK before you travel, they can then be activated while you’re abroad.
Since most EU countries are approved, it’s easier for us to list the European countries where you can’t watch Now TV, they are:
- Northern Cyprus
If you’re outside of Europe, or in one of these blocked countries, then you’ll need to try something different though.
How to watch Now TV in blocked countries
If you want to watch Now TV in the places listed above you’ll need to use a VPN. It stands for virtual private network and allow you to surf the web anonymously while protecting your privacy.
They also have the benefit of artificially relocating your device to another place using your IP address. So you can pretend to be in the UK, for example.
You don’t need to worry about how it works too much, but it means you can select the UK even if you’re abroad and use things like normal.
You can check out our best VPN round-up, but we recommend NordVPN and ExpressVPN.
